Blog - Grossly Unremarkable (The Best News Ever)

Yesterday evening, I received the results from my CT scan at the Princess Margaret Cancer Centre through my online portal.

This was actually the scan I was supposed to have the day after I became sick with meningitis back in November. I remember calling the hospital that Monday morning saying, "I'm really sick. I can't come in."
So this scan ended up happening about three months later than planned.

And last night…I got the results.
Clear.

It's funny how the body works.
Part of me already knew everything would be okay. I feel good. I trust my body.

But seeing those words in writing is something else entirely.

There's this moment where you suddenly realize you've been holding tension in your body for months and then it leaves.

A deep exhale.

You feel two things at once —
completely exhausted and like you could run a marathon.

The report says "grossly unremarkable."
Who would have thought that being called grossly unremarkable would one day feel like the most beautiful words in the world.

On Monday I'll head back to Princess Margaret Cancer Centre to see my surgeon oncologist. It will probably be a quick ten-minute appointment.

But I always love seeing him.
Six and a half years ago, that man saved my life.

So today I've just been sitting with the feeling of it all.
Relief.
Gratitude.
I'm a very happy woman.

And moments like this remind me that when you have your health, everything else suddenly feels a little smaller. Because when you have your health, you have the strength and the wherewithal to face whatever life puts in front of you 💕
