Blog - A New Nighttime Habit

I'm starting a new nighttime habit.
Because I need it.

📖 10 pages of a book every night
📵 Phone off. Electronics off. One hour before bed.

Here's why...
Reading 10 pages a night:
• lowers stress and quiets the nervous system
• improves focus and memory (hello, healing brain)
• builds consistency and discipline in the gentlest way
• helps me fall asleep calmer instead of wired
• adds up to ~3,650 pages a year — that's 10–12 books without trying

And the phone?
The scrolling isn't relaxing. It's stimulating.
Blue light delays melatonin.
Notifications keep the brain alert.
Endless content keeps the mind noisy.

So instead of feeding my brain noise before sleep,
I'm feeding it words, wisdom, and quiet.

This is me choosing peace on purpose.
This is me choosing less dopamine hits and more deep rest.
This is me choosing to be intentional with my time and my healing.

Honestly? I'm a bit too attached to my phone.
And less scrolling is a must.

Going forward my nighttime routine will include a good book!

Resilience in Action:
Self-awareness • Intentional habit change • Nervous system care

📚 Want better sleep and a calmer mind? Try 10 pages tonight - and tell me tomorrow how you feel.
